ABOUT NITRO
Nitro is from our Transforms litter (Chess x Storm) and is a purpose bred lurcher for sports.
His Dad Storm is a well known in flyball and for many years was the fastest dog in Europe with a PB of 3.33.
Nitro's mum is our very own pocket rocket 'Chess', with a PB of 3.70 as a 10" height dog.
When we considered another sports bred mix litter we had the experience of both Optic and Ultra and knew what we wanted to try to create. Ultra has incredible flat speed, some serious brains and just the right amount of crazy however she does lack a little in body length. Optic on the other hand has all the body length you can dream of, crazy power and the heart of a lion however he doesn't have quite the same acceleration as Ultra.
By using Chess as the Mum to this litter she gives us exceptional confirmation and in our opinion a pretty perfect build for a sports dog which includes a longer body and loin length. She also has a super brain, great work drive and super speedy feet/acceleration. Combining this with the size, power and outright speed of Storm we hoped to combine this with Chess to give us the best of both between Ultra and Optic.
So far Nitro is shaping to be everything we hoped for and more. He is likely to become the biggest dog in the house with maybe an extra cm or two over Optic. Hopefully he doesnt grow to be pony sized!
At 4 months old he is weighing in at 10.5kg and is around 43cm at the withers.
For a heavier set lurcher he has excellent acceleration but this boy is going to be one powerhouse of a dog when he is fully matured!
He has a beautifully balanced temperament showing all the drive you could want, he is confident but not over the top and has the natural sighthound off switch.
SPORTS
Flyball - There isnt any doubt over whether Nitro will be a full height dog.
He has started work on on his foundation training of basic fun games like recalls. He has picked up all the games incredibly quickly and is already showing some serious drive, speed and power. We are very excited about his future in the sport.
Tricks - Like all our dogs Nitro is working though a foundation programme building up tricks and behaviours. He loves to work and please and as such has shown a natural ability for trick training.
Racing - Nitro shows an excellent drive to chase a tug and we hope to be able to transfer this to a lure. When he is old enough we will give him a try at lurcher racing.
AT STUD
Subject to suitable health test results and Nitro meeting our strict criteria on temperament and physical attributes he maybe at stud in the future.
