ABOUT OPTIC
Optic is from our Pokemon litter (Autumn x Kenickie) and is our first purpose bred lurcher litter for sports. His Dad is a Border Whippet who has been imported from the famous Painted Stars Farm Kennels in America. He has a PB of 3.40 and is a British and European record holder many times over in flyball. Optic's mum is our very own super star 'Autumn', with a PB of 3.54 putting her as the fastest collie bitch in the world. Optic has some incredible genes and so far he has delivered on everything we had hoped.

He is easily the biggest dog in the house (although thats not exactly hard with all our short arses) measuring around 56-57cm at the withers but weighs a mere 19kg. 
He is heavier set than most whippet mixes however this has made him an extremely powerful dog but despite that powerful frame he still has incredible acceleration and flat speed. He has really nice angulation for a whippet mix and with a long loin length he is incredibly flexible and agile. He is a big friendly giant and with his white socks is very striking which means he is already growing himself a rather big fan club!

Optic is easy going and pretty much the definition of bombproof. He loves people and aims to please which makes him easy to train and work. This attitude has made him an incredible asset in flyball often having a different handler at each show yet never failing to be consistent and reliable. Unlike several whippet mixes he has no issue with repetition or failure and actively tries to figure out the next step to get it right. His personality has made him an incredibly versatile dog and one that you could take into any environment without worrying about his reaction.
He does love a cuddle and is also a playful boy, throwing around his squeaky toys or having zoomies with his baby Sister Ultra. He has been taught well by his Mummy Autumn putting his head on the sofa so she can reach to give him a good clean and he can usually be found not far from her curled up on the sofa.


SPORTS
Flyball - Optic measures at full height and has a current PB of 3.47.
Due to Optics easy going personality he has never really been set up for speed when it comes to flyball and often finds himself with a new a handler he has never met and until recently has been an our anchor dog giving him inconsistent racing. These things make his achievements even more impressive and he is in short a dream flyball dog. His PB makes him one of if not the fastest 3/4 border collies in the World and he is also super consistent hitting mainly 3.5s during racing. Physically he has the potential to see 3.3s and improving that PB will be an aim for 2026.

Optic has had a whirlwind career so far and at just 4 years old he is already a 5x UKFL Champion and Crufts Champion.
He regularly helps his team to Division 1 victory's which is testament to his reliability.
Since attending his first UKFL Championships he has returned each year as a Champion. Retaining titles and indeed holding both indoor and outdoor at the same time is something which had never been done before!
In 2022 he attended his first Championships and came home as the Outdoor Champion. He also qualified for Crufts and in 2023 hit the famous green carpet for the first time where he helped his team to 2nd and 5th place!
Later in 2023 he successfully defended the UKFL Outdoor Champion Title and went on to win the Indoor Champion Title as well.
In 2024 he followed in his Grandma Summer's footsteps and hit a milestone that only a small number in history can say they have achieved and that was to become a Crufts Flyball Champion. He ran as anchor dog across three days of racing in Watsons Legacy and after defeating the reigning World Champions in the final the team were victorious and crowned Crufts Champions. Later in 2024, just before his 4th birthday he returned to the UKFL Champs where he once again helped his team to retain both the Outdoor and Indoor Championship titles and adding another piece of history to his name.
In 2025 he competed at Crufts gaining a 2nd and 5th place and once again helped his team retain the UKFL Outdoor Champion Title.
Optic has also qualified for Crufts 2026 in both the adult and YKC flyball events. At the BFA Outdoor Champs Optic helped his team to win Division 2 and at the Indoor became Reserve Champions only loosing one race across two days which was to the European record holders!
He has gained the BFA Graduate Award (3000 points) and the UKFL Flying Officer Advanced Award (15,000) points. 

Tricks - Optic spent his lockdown puppy time building up a wide variety of tricks and behaviours and in the process gained himself various awards. If it involves going backwards or using his paws he can do it with ease! He has gained many titles which include the Expert Masters and the Trick Dog Champion Title. He only has one title left to try for which is the Grand Champion Title and we will be making that our winter 2025 homework. 

Racing - This year we have participated in a new activity of lurcher racing with straight racing and simulated coursing. He has a healthy chase drive and his favourite thing is to run so this has turned into a perfect activity for him and he took to the sport with ease. He races in the 21-23" height category for straight racing. 

AT STUD
Optic is available at stud to approved bitches.
Optic is now proven at stud with our dual sired Next Generation Litter (Sapphire x Epyc/Optic). These pups all measure as 9" flyball height dogs & medium agility dogs. The first couple have put together their first full runs in flyball over their own height and are already hitting low 3.7/8s and are expected to see at least 3.6s.
